Itch reviews: ELF Studio Matte Lip Color

Hello to all  my readers and peace be upon us all.

A few weeks back, I had a small ELF Studio haul. I saw these on the website and decided to buy all the colours since the were on a 50% sale.

They only come in four colours:
Coral: a true coral with just a teeny bit of pink.
Natural: a medium tone pink.
Praline: terracotta like pink
Tea Rose: a medium tone pink with a hint of brown.

All four colours when applied look naturally similar, except for Praline since it's a bit on the brown side.

Firstly, here's the info on the packaging / website:

This convenient jumbo sized  lip pencil creates exact color application. the pigment rich color glides on effortlessly and provides long lasting matte color. the enriched vitamin A, C and E formula moisturizes and hydrates lips for all day comfort.
Apply to lips and blend in color. Reapply as often as desired.

Well, I don't really know about the "jumbo sized" part because the lip only offers 1.8 grams of product, which is way less than a normal lipstick bullet has (around 4 g).

But, this pencil really glides on easily and applies smoothly. Very creamy, which is quite surprising for a matte lipstick. The finish is more of a matte plus satin which I prefer. Pigment is very good but sadly, doesn't really last that long. I say it offers good colour payoff for the first 2 hours, and then it starts fading. But it didn't dry out my lips which is a plus especially in Ramadhan.

It comes with a sharpener at the bottom, but I don't see myself (or anyone) using it because there's not a need to since it's in a twisty tube. The twisty tube is convenient but, it makes me a bit wary of the product being damaged while I apply it to my lips.

Ok overall view:

PROS:
Applies smoothly and is very creamy.
Has good pigmentation.
Good packaging.
Does not dry out lips.
Has a minty kinda taste which I like :)

CONS:
Bullet would easily break.
Does not last that long, would be better with the use of lipgloss.
Retails for USD3.00 for less than half a proper lipstick.
Limited colour selection.

Would I buy these again..erm..I think 50/50, only if it's on sale. 50% or more. I do think it's better to get the NYX Round Lipsticks with matte finishes or even the ELF Essential line ones.

You can buy these from ELF website. But I got mostly all my ELF products from Robecca aka Strawberry Girl at Lowyat. She always holds 50% ELF sprees and I would really recommend her. She's very efficient and knows what she's doing.

OK really hope this helps you guys. Have a good one lovelies!

I got tea rose recently too! =) Also via Robecca. The purple hue in Tea Rose makes me look pale.. like I'm sick >__< Should have gone for Coral or Praline instead..huhu.. but yeah, the formula is comfortable but it started wearing off the next few hours.. the pencil is kinda cute though.. ^^
