WW: Sleek Lust

Hey there lovelies, peace be upon all of you..

Yeah, I know my WW should be make up free..but then again this post is just about me babbling away..hehe

I am really lusting over these i-Divine eyeshadow palettes from Sleek. Reviews about them were always good, which enticed me more. The one thing that kept me from getting me some is the shipping price. Sleek Cosmetics are only available in the UK and local sprees are very rare and I often missed them :(
Acid palette
Original palette

Paraguay palette
Storm Palette
I also would like to try their face products like the cream to powder foundation and their blushes.

Blusher

Cream to powder foundation

Price wise I think they are borderline affordable around $5.00 to $11.00 (I am not sure if it's in Euro or USD)

Have any of you  tried or own any Sleek Cosmetics? Are they really good as what they say? Where can we Malaysian lovelies get our hands on them? Any suggestions?

Pictures are from Sleek Cosmetics website.

Thanks for reading guys, and have a colourful Wednesday!

Itch reviews: SimplySiti New Age Simply 5 Cream

Peace be upon all of you beautiful readers.

During the month of March, SimplySiti counters nationwide were having a sale. I have been eying her skin care for a while, especially the much talked about Simply 5 Cream. So I bought one that is more suited towards my skin, the New Age Simply 5 Cream.

For those who doesn't know who Siti Nurhaliza is (the woman behind the name) she is a very, very famous singer in Malaysia. Let's just let Siti do the talking about her products. Here's a snippet of an interview she had with the Malay Mail about SimplySiti.

"The singer said the project took about two years of research and product testing, before it could be officially launched.

“Research was done by Nielsen where several women and men were called to test the product, without acknowledging that it was my skin care line. Besides that, I personally rolled up my sleeves and tested all the products myself. Every texture, every colour, and each ingredient was monitored by me.

“I like skin care texture that is light and easy to apply. Plus, it must be halal, so that I can wear them during solat. For cosmetics, my make-up artiste Nurul Shukor and I sat down and picked the best colours, which are incidentally my favourites,” she added.

According to Siti, all products are processed in Korea. “Everyone knows that Korea makes the best skin care and cosmetic products in the whole world. Even the Westerners are starting to turn to Korean products now. SimplySiti has its own processing factory there,” said Siti.

“SimplySiti products include nanotechnology, which is the latest technology in skin care. All ingredients are based on natural ingredients, which I have used for so many years.

“Customers need not worry about the cleanliness of the product and whether or not it is halal for Muslims. I have gone to the factory several times to conduct checks and see how the products are processed."

I like the fact that she is really sensitive to the needs of her buyers. She really did gave this project a lot of thought, with the help of her businessman husband. So I really do hope that this line will stay in the market.

Okay on with the review. I wanted to buy this particular product because Siti herself  has said to use it as her foundation. I swatched it at the counter and had the impression that it could give good coverage. My initial thought was that this is a BB cream only that Siti doesn't want to call it BB cream, maybe.

Package wise, I really love it. The pump works really well, and the cap is quite tight. Straight from the tube, the texture is thick but it's really easy to blend. Upon blending, the area would feel really smooth. It has a nice smell too.

I have worn this everyday since I bought it, forcing my Naturactor foundation to just take the role of a concealer. To say the truth, I don't get the coverage that I want from it. Coverage is really light much like a light tinted moisturiser. It really doesn't cover the redness I have around my nose and forehead which would have been the case with normal bb creams or even foundations used in the same amount. I kept thinking could Siti be really using this as a foundation? Point to ponder.

But what I like about this is that it lessen the look of my smile lines when I use it. So that's good. But for finer lines under my eyes, as like most foundations, it makes them more visible. Another good note is that the oil control of this product is very good.

So after trying this, I do like it and I'll use this as my am moisturiser replacing my Loreal UV Perfect Mat, which makes me look kinda ashy. It does contain many properties that is good for maturing skin like mine. It is skincare anyways, so might as well treat it as that.

Final take?

PROS:
Minimizes the appearance of smile lines.
Good facial oil control.
Has ingredients that is good for maturing skin.
Blends easily and does not look patchy.
Easily bought at Watsons (retails at RM59.90 for 35ml)

CONS:
Very light coverage.

You guys can go to the official SimplySiti website for more info. Maybe the Acne Solutions series offer better coverage than this one. Have any of you tried SimplySiti skincare? Mind sharing? Thanks a bunch!

Oohh..there's still time to join my mascara contest!

Have a colourful day lovely people!

Itch looks: Male Makeup

Hey there and peace be upon all of you.

Sorry for the lack of update. Been really busy lately. I am on a two weeks course and schedule is a bit tight. I'll try to update as often as I can, but it will be short and sweet :)

My brother got married last Sunday, and I was the one who did his make up. It was kinda weird the mak andam (make up artist) did not touch up the groom. Luckily I brought along my trunk of junk :)

To make up males is different from us. They have to look REALLY, REALLY natural. If not..well you guys know. It was quite hectic and I forgot to take the before picture. Don't worry, I'll be doing his make up again on my family's side reception. I will remind myself to take one. Here's what I did to my brother:

Step 1: Primed his face with ELF Face Primer
Step 2: Did a little bit of contouring on his cheek bones, barely seen using Naturactor 153
Step 3: Foundation all over (face, neck, ears, and back of neck) using Naturactor 150, and then conceal using the same product.
Step 4: Set with Dermacolor Fixing Powder.
Step 5: A teeny weeny bit of blush.
Step 6: A thin coat of NYX Round Lipstick in B52.

FINISHED!

To my brother, may you have a blissful marriage. It's no walk in the park, but it will be more beautiful than the gardens of paradise if the both of you honour and stay truthful to your marriage and family.

To Raihan, welcome to the family. You are gonna love being part of the clan :) BTW, we need more members :)

That's all for today lovelies, have a colourful day!

Itch tips: My Skincare and Beauty Routine

Hello my sisters! Peace be upon you.

Some of my friends have been asking me what I used on my face. What products and what I do. Honestly, there is nothing fancy schamancy about my skincare or my routine. You'll regret asking me..hehe :)

But, again, it is always good to share. I would really like to highlight some products that has really worked for me. And maybe if you are having the same problems, you could try them. If it also works for you, then I am really happy to have helped. As usual these are just my personal experiences. Different people may react differently since skincare is very individual.

And please take note that these are the current products I used. Some of them come and go. The good ones sticks. I have simplified my skincare to just the things that I would use. That's why you don't see a lot of skincare post in this blog. I'm not that adventurous in trying a whole lot of things. Skincare needs time to visually see and feel the results. Before this routine, I was a user of the Clinique 3 Step System, including other Clinique things like the scrubs, masks and sun protection. I stopped using Clinique 3 years ago, mainly because of the price factor. Yeah I'm cheap. I kinda have to, other priorities came (son and family). But, there are always good skincare products that are available in drugstores and pharmacies which can sometimes be better than those at the counters. Don't go for price, go for suitability and effectiveness.

Orait, enough with the babble. Let's move on.

Daily routine

These are the things I use daily.

From left to right:
Bio-Essence Deep Cleanser. I only use cleansers at night. It's actually a free gift I got for the eye gel I bought. It has a milky consistency, much like a makeup cleanser. Very soft. But I'm thinking of changing because I like foamy cleansers. It kinda suits my oily skin.

Clinique Clarifying Lotion (now they call it exfoliant). They only Clinique product that sticks. I simply love it. Look at the big bottle..hahaha. I use this both am and pm.

Safi Rania Gold Serum. Just started using this in January. This is my second bottle already. Not oily, smells great and absorbs quickly. Am contented (for now). Use am and pm.

Natio Eye Contour Treatment Gel. Use in the am. Eye gels are difficult. This product is so-so for me.

Bio-essence 24K Bio Gold Eye Contour Lifting Serum. Use in the pm. Same as above.

Loreal UV Perfect Mat. My am moisturiser. I hate this. Can't wait to finish this.

Mustika Ratu Cream Zaitun. LOVE this to bits! This will definitely stick. A tad oily, that's why I use this as my pm moisturiser. On lazy days I would just plop this on and I will feel guilty free for not applying the rest. Very creamy and I'll wake up to smooth skin.

Safi Rania Gold Beauty Cream. My in between moituriser. Something I would wear at home when I'm not going out.

Other Routines

Facial Scrub.

Avon Solutions Refined White Soft Peeling Gel. I rarely scrub. I think at most I scrub my face twice a month. I have been using this for quite a while now. A cheaper dupe for Clinique  Turn a round 5 minutes Facial. Other scrubs that I like is the St Ives Apricot Scrub.

Facial masks.

Purederm Anti Wrikle Gel Patches. Quite a good product and affordable too. RM19.90 for 6 pairs at Watsons. Use once a week.

Bedak Sejuk. Another one that sticks. For how long I don't even know. I use this whenever I want to. Next time if you go anywhere and see this. Just buy it and use it. Enough said.

Queen Halene Mint Julep Mask. You can read about it here. Used once a fortnight.

Body.

Oilum Moisturizing Soap with Collagen. Used in showers. A bit drying at first. I am going to continue using this. Saw this at Guradian for RM10.50.

Vaseline Healthy White. My fav so far.

Special Needs

Basso Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Used as mask, make up remover, hair treatment etc. I have yet to bring my self to consume it..not yet.

Temulawak Cream. I use this on my pimples before I go to sleep. Works wonders for just less than RM6 a pop.

Biore Cleansing Oil. My go to makeup remover. Easy breezy. But if you have sensitive eyes. Stay away. Stings like crazy.

Supplements.

I swear by supplements. I take these everyday. If you don't take supplements, you better start tomorrow. Start with something easy like water. Yes water (notice the water bottle..hehe). My husband calls me 'unta' (camel) because I drink like one.

Thanyaporn Compound Pueraria Mirifica Capsule. After childbirth and breastfeeding for some years, my bosoms loose their youthfulness (I hope I don't scare any mother-to-be out there). But it's the thruth. Most mothers experience this. I've tried a  number of supplements and creams that promises to give you perkier breasts. But only Thanyaporn shows results. I dare say this because I see it and feel it (my husband too). I took pictures of the before and after. Though it's nothing drastic but it is way better than those expensive products that promise sweet nothings. This is my fourth bottle. One will last 2 months. It is also beneficial for your skin, hair and butt. It's a product from Thailand. Thanyaporn is a sound company and I haven't heard of any side effect yet. If you guys do please alert me ok.

Blackmores Multivitamins and Minerals.

Blackmores Evening Primrose and Fish Oil. A must take for every woman out there.

Lennox Firm Up Collagen Drink. Just starting. Wanting to see what's all the fuss is about :)

Phew..this is what I call a LONG POST! I'm not in any way trying to impress you guys. As you can see..most of these are drugstores / pharmacies brand that are affordable and easily available.

To sum up, here are a list of my skincare that I would recommend:
  • Clinique Clarifying Lotion
  • Safi Rania Gold Serum
  • Mustika Ratu Cream Zaitun
  • Bedak Sejuk
  • Avon Solutions Refined White Soft Peeling Gel.
  •  EVOO of any brand
  • Temulawak Cream
  • Thanyaporn Compound Pueraria Mirifica Capsule
  • Multivitamins and EPO and Fish oil of any brand.
So I hope you guys find this helpful. Do share your thoughts about skincare with me and I would really like to know your skincare and beauty routine. If you have a post on that, do link in the comments. BTW, can you guys suggest a good eye cream for me. Preferably with sunscreen. Thanks!

Don't forget to join my Mascara Contest.

Have a colourful Thursday!

Itch reviews: Avon Supershock Waterproof Mascara and Mini Contest [CLOSED]

Peace be upon all of my lovely sisters.

Remember when I told you guys that I found a good + cheep mascara that I think is comparable to the Loreal Voluminous mascara? Well I think it's time to reveal the mascara. I'm sorry for taking a long time to review this. It is just because initially it was another mascara. But then I discovered this and found that it is way better! It's the Avon Supershock Waterproof Mascara. Yeah, Avon.

I've read somewhere that Supershock gives good volume. I was skeptical at first, but after trying it out, this mascara is a real shocker. It's my new favourite thing!

You guys can read my review about Loreal Voluminous here and why I have not been using it for quite a while. It smudges, clumps and a pain in the boing to remove.

So this mascara should address all the issues above plus, it must offer length and volume.

Let's take a look at Supershock's wand. Yes, it has a big 'ol wand with short silicon bristles. The bristles looks spiky but they are very soft. The wand may look intimidating but it is super easy to apply on the lashes. Even the lower lashes! The short bristles grab and coat them nicely. I dare say the easiest wand to coat lower lashes despite the size.

Compared to Loreal Voluminous

What I really like about Supershock is, When applied, the lashes look naturally long and thick with thin wispy tips (much like how natural lashes are). This mascara does not clump, which is super but makes it a bit hard to build up. Here's my eyes using the mascara taken after about 4 hours of application. (the before picture was taken during day, the after at night, so looks a bit off)

So here are my pros and cons about Supershock:

PROS:
Gives length and volume.
Does not clump.
Does not smudge.
Way, way, way easier to remove.
Cheap (I don't know the exact retail price. But during campaigns the price is usually around RM15.00 to RM20.00. I saw in Feb 2011 campaign it goes for only RM10.00! about USD1.50. But I was too late..boo hoo. Now selling in March 2011 for RM14.90. STEAL!)
Holds curls nicely, would last throughout the day.

CONS:

emm...for the first time I don't have anything to write here.

Ok so how is Supershock compared to Voluminous? I think it's time for a mascara showdown!

Top to bottom: Naked lashes, 1 coat, 2 coats and 3 coats. L to R: Voluminous and Supershock

What do you guys think? Is this a good dupe?

Please take note that I took extra caution in making sure that the lighting and position of my eyes were the same when taking the pictures (I'm in no way a genius in photography). I also tried my best to make sure that the coats are equal in amount of product applied to my eyes.  Both are applied without the use of a lash curler or mascara guard. But, I had to differ the way I applied each mascara. These are just the techniques that I found the best in order to get the most length and volume from each mascara because their wands are so different from each other:

Avon Supershock: Fast and swift upwards motions from the roots to the tips.
Loreal Voluminous: Gentle upwards motions from roots to tips.

I also had to remove the excess product from Voluminous's wand before applying in order to minimize clumping. Again, this "experiment" is just my personal experience with these mascaras and I'm just sharing my views.

I'm excited now. Ok, just for fun, I want to host an easy MINI CONTEST.

Here are my eyes wearing one mascara on each eye. Can you guys tell which is wearing Supershock and which is wearing Voluminous?

Itch reviews: In2it Sheer Shimmer Blush

Hey there lovely sisters, peace be upon all of us.

I looooveeee highlighters! (Ok we got it already) I just can't get enough of how versatile highlighters are. With just one swipe they can change your whole make up outlook.

So again another review on a highlighter / blush (yeah bear with me). Today miss syukur will  review the In2It Sheer Shimmer Blush.

My dear fellow beauty blogger Aisyah did a review on the same product and after reading it, I just gotta go get me some of that highlighter love...hehe

I do wish that In2it have a website. I would love to spend time just browsing through their super cute products. Anyways here the info from the packaging:

"High pearl, soft and smooth with vitamin E and no fragrance"

I got mine in the colour Apricot Pearl. Here's some swatches:

When applied the blush really stays true to the name, sheer and shimmery. I don't wear this as a blush. I prefer to use it as a highlighter. I use my ELF stippling brush to apply some on my cheek bones. For nose bridge, cupids bow, brow bones or eyelids, I would just use my fingers. Here's some FOTD of me wearing this on my cheekbones and nose bridge.

And like Aisyah, I'm hooked! Let's find out why.

PROS:
Texture is so soft. When aplied the area would feel really smooth.
Gives a nice healthy glow to the cheeks. If you have prominent cheeks this would be lovely.
Have good staying power.
Nice sturdy packaging with cute flower imprints.
A good range of colours to select from.
Cheap. Retails RM16.90 (about USD3) at Guardian and Watsons.

CONS:
I found that using an ordinary blush brush would just wash out the shimmers. Using a stipple brush is better at packing both the colours and shimmers. If you don't have one, use a tapping motion with your fingers when applying. Do not overblend. Just tap, tap, tap until the area is evenly covered. Much like you would a cream blush.

So I hope this helps.  Thanks for dropping by.

Enjoy your Sunday sisters!

FOTD: Smokey Forest Green

Hi beauty sisters, peace be upon all of us.

Recently bought an eye shadow quad from Avon. Trying it out today.  In the compact these colours look beautiful, but from the look you guys can see that they don't have good pigmentation especially the green and yellow. Bummer, because those colours were the reason why I bought the quad in the first place :(

They looked ok-ish in real life but in pictures the green is almost washed out. Anyways, I hope you guys like the look. Just a simple smokey green and brown. Nothing over the top except for those long falsies :) Without falsies it's a very great look for work.

On my face:
Bio Essence Multi Effect BB Cream
ELF Complexion Perfection
ELF COntouring Blush and Bronzing Powder
A coral blush

On my eyes:
Avon Tru Color Eyeshadow Quad in Earth Tones
Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner in Jet Black
Uptown Visions Eye Pencil in Tempting
Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Perfect Liquid Eyeliner in Black
Silky Girl Double Intense Waterproof Mascara in Very Black

On my lips:
Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Mousse Lipstick in Metallic Peach

Have a colourful Friday lovelies!

Itch looks: Fast and Simple 2.

Peace be upon all my readers!

Today's tutorial will be a very simple one. It takes roughly about 10 minutes (depending on your skills), and less than 10 products. This is a natural, clean, day look, ideal for busy moms, students and minimalists.

As a mom, you have little time for yourself. I know how hectic everything can be. Especially when getting the whole family ready to go out. We moms make sure all our kids look their best, pack all the things needed for the outing (napkins, formula, juices, stroller..etc) and getting everyone into the vehicle in time. How many times have you stumble upon a family where you smile and say to yourself what lovely and beautiful children... but at the back of the crowd the mother looks as pale as a "hantu kubor" (cemetery ghost).

Oprah always say that you cannot make anyone happy unless you yourself is happy. So I would like to remind myself, other moms and moms-to-be, to always find ways to put yourself on your family's list. Don't forget YOU. You have the right to look beautiful as you should rightfully be.

OK enough with the pep talk, on to the tutorial. As usual start with a moisturized face and don't forget to use sun block.

STEP 1: The most important of all, CONCEAL. Conceal your undereye circles, blemishes, around the nose and mouth and other problem areas. I usually use my fingers to apply and blend my concealer.

STEP 2: Foundation. Since It's a fast look, I opted to use mineral foundation. It gives good coverage, evens out your skin tone and sets your concealer too. It takes less time than liquid foundations.

STEP 3: Highlight your cheek bones and nose bridge.

STEP 4: This is optional, contour and shade your cheeks and jaws. I also contoured my nose.

STEP 5: Apply your blush between the highlight and shading. Blend until it looks nice.

STEP 6: Highlight your brow bones and inner corners. Just use your fingers.

STEP 7: Line your upper lash line. Set this with any dark eyeshadow you own and smudge using a cotton bud.

STEP 8: Curl and coat your lashes with several coats of mascara.

STEP 9: Fill in your eyebrows.

STEP 10: Apply lipstick and gloss if preferred.

FINISHED!

My ingredients:

1: Naturactor Cream Foundation in 151 as concealer
2: Maybelline Clear Smoothe Minerals in Rose White
3: NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in Highlight
4: ELF COntouring BLush and Bronzing Powder
5: NYX 10 Color Runway Palette in Strike a Pose (dark brown to line eyes and shimmery coral for highlight)
6: Rimmel Two Tone Eye Definer in Trend Setter
7: Silky Girl Double Intense Waterproof Mascara in Very Black.
8: Silky Girl Natural Brow Pencil in Dark Brown
9: NYX Round Lipstick in Ceto.

Yes, everybody is beautiful naturally, but with a little bit of fine tuning here and there, plus pairing this look with your bright personality...you can be STUNNING.

No more walking and hiding behind your children :) unless you want to keep an eye on them..

I hope this helps. Share some love yea.

Have a colourful day peeps!
