FOTD: Dramatic Green and Black

Peace be upon all readers!

Studied my 120 palette today to look at colours that have not received love yet. And most of the green hues are pretty much neglected. I rarely wear green out except for lining the lower lashes. So today's FOTD is GREEN!

The look is fairly easy to create. You guys can refer to this page for the actual colours.

  • Firstly, I put a tape at the corner of my eyes to get that clean line.
  • Using a matte black eyeshadow (shade a02) I traced my crease and connected it to a drawn wing following the tape.
  • Blend the black inwards.
  • Pat a bright green (shade a20) all over lids, blend with the black.
  • Blend in a moss green (shade a16) over the lids.
  • Highlight inner corners (shade b30).
  • Highlight brow bones (shade a58).
  • I filled in my brows with black liner and eyeshadows.

Here's the rest of the products used:

On my face:
ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer
NARS Sheer Matte Foundation in Punjab (review coming soon)
Naturactor Cover Face Foundation in 141 for concealing.
ELF High Definition Powder.
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder.
NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in Highlighter.
A generic peach blusher from a palette.

On my eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
120 eyeshadow palette.
Heavy Rotation Perfect Liquid Eyeliner in Black
Avon Super Curlacious Mascara

On my lips:
NYX Round Lipstick in Indian Pink

It was a bit stressful at school today, but doing this look kinda relieved it a bit :) A fun way to de-stress!

Hope you guys like the look. Do try it out and share.

Have a colourful day ahead guys!

Itch reviews: Loreal Paris Super Liner

Peace be upon all you lovely sisters!

Today I am going to review my new favourite eyeliner. I have been wearing this everyday to school the past two weeks! That's how much I like it..ngeee...

It's the Loreal Paris Super Liner.

I got this from a giveaway I won from Joy. Thanks a lot Joy! The colour given is Silver Black. At first I thought the colour won't look good on because I have tried silver liner on my eyes before and I didn't like it. But this one's different. Here's the swatch.

L: without flash R: with flash
It's not like bright silver, more like a gunmetal colour. LOVE! It's not as harsh as black and gives your eyes some interest, especially when there's light.

The sponge applicator makes it SOOOOOO EASYYYYYY to apply! I have never tried sponge tip applicator for liquid liners before and was really surprise how easy it was. I am never going back to any other applicators when it comes to liquid liners anymore!

But sadly, I don't think this particular line is in Malaysian market :( Well at least not in my local pharmacies. Maybe those in bigger cities carry it? I'm not sure, please update me okay.

PROS:
EASY TO APPLY.
Smudge proof.
Long lasting.
Dries Fast.
Affordable. Retails USD7.00

CONS:
NOT WATERPROOF. Washes away easily with water so be careful.
Not available locally.

Final say, I love it. I would definitely recommend this especially for noobs, and those hardcore liquid liner lovers :) I am stocking this in the next spree I join :) The Super Liner Carbon Gloss is quite popular also.

On my eyes:
NYX Runway Collection in Strike A Pose (bronze for crease, gold for lids and matte white for brow bones and inner corners)
Loreal Paris Super Liner in Silver Black
ELF Eyebrow kit in Medium
Avon Supershock Mascara in Black

What's your favourite liquid liner? And don't forget to check out Joy's blog for her reviews and looks!

Have a colourful day ahead guys!

Tutorial: High End vs Low End Dark Smokey Eye

Peace be upon all you lovely readers.

Today's tutorial is inspired by the makeup worn by Wan Sharmila who played Yvonne in the hit drama series Nora Elena. If you are living in Malaysia, Brunei or Singapore, the bet is that you would have probably heard about this drama or maybe even a fan :) The drama ended last week but fans are still talking about it and all three major actors in the drama are very much in the spotlight now.

Yvonne is the home wrecker in this drama, trying her very best to get Seth for herself, even to the point of killing Seth and Nora's baby. Everybody hates Yvonne, but I like her makeup :) she would usually have smokey eyes and is usually paired with red lips and lighter brows.

Here's my take on the look:

So why did I called it low end and high end? It's because that one eye is created using the Urban Decay Naked Palette, while the other one using the 88 matte palette. Can you tell the difference?

If you have either one of the palette and like the look, here's the tutorial :) Please refer to my colour code page to find out what the colours actually are from the 88 matte palette.

Firstly, prime your lids. High end I used UDPP, low end I used ELF Mineral Eye Primer.

Then using a soft fluffy brush, apply a reddish brown on your crease. I used Buck from Naked and shade 12 and 82 from 88 palette.

After that, with a flat shader brush pat on a black eyeshadow on the entire lid. Blend it upwards towards your crease. I used Creep from Naked and shade 01 from 88 palette.

Apply the same colour on your lower lashline and blend it out.

Apply a light bronze colour to highlight your inner corners. I used Sin from Naked and shade 14 from 88 palette.

To blend the crease and highlight the brow bones I used Naked from Naked and shade 16 from 88 palette.

I put a light dab of Gunmetal from Naked and shade 05 on the lids. Shade 05 showed up better than Gunmetal in my pictures.

Line your upper and lower waterlines and lash lines. High end I used UD 24/7 pencil in Zero, low end I used my Rimmel eyeliner.

Lastly, curl, lashes and mascara!

FINISHED!

You can hardly tell which is which, but I didn't wear them long enough to tell which one lasts longer. But I can say that the colours in the Naked palette is WAY EASIER to blend. They are very pigmented, goes on smoothly and took much less time to finish an eye. For 88 palette, you tend to always layer and blend to achieve the same intensity as the Naked colours.

So I hope you guys like the look :) Here is the list of products used:

On my eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion / ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
Urban Decay Naked Palette: Buck, Creep, Sin, Naked and Gunmetal / 88 matte palette: shades 12, 82, 01, 14, 16 and 05.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eyepencil in Zero / Rimmel Two Tone Eye Definer in Trendsetter
Shade 12 to fill in eye brows
Heavy Rotation Colouring eyebrow in Light Blonde
Avon Supershock Mascara in Black
False lashes

On my face:
Claudia Stevens Facial Prep Foundation Base
Naturactor Cover Face Foundation in 141
Benefit Powderfladge
ELF High Definition Powder
ELF Warm Bronzer
ELF COntouring Blush and Bronzing Powder
NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in Highlight

On my lips:

Vaseline
Avon Simply Pretty Lip Defining Pencil in Red Flush

Urban Decay Goodies Feat. The Naked Palette

Hi there everybody and peace be upon all you lovely readers.

Yup I succumbed, after numerous times telling myself I don't need this (since I bought the Too Faced Natural Eye Palette, and heck there are lots of cheaper neutral palettes out there) I bought it! Dang you lowyat forums, dang you US personal shoppers...  Love you my dear hubby for extra monthly allowance (since getting pregnant)...hehehe...

You can get this at our local Sephora I think around RM180.00. I paid a bit more getting this ready stock online, RM200 plus postage. But thinking that this palette is always out of stock and I'm not at all living anywhere near KL to always be checking out Sephora, it's pretty much okay. The palette now comes with a brush instead of the double ended 24/7 pencil. But don't pay too much for it because many sellers at ebay are charging ridiculous prices for the palette. It's a nice palette to have, but be patient it's in the permanent UD line, not limited edition.

But I did got my Primer Potion (RM79.00) and the 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero (RM69.00) at Sephora during a recent trip to KL. And of course the Naked Palette was nowhere to be seen.

Here's a quick swatch of all the colours:

The karma shadow brush

From swatching, I would say that half baked, toasted, buck and gunmetal would be my favourites, though the whole palette is just lovely. All the colours feels velvety and has very good pigmentation. This is definitely not a boring neutral palette, because we all know that Urban Decay doesn't do boring.

That's all to share today, reviews and looks will come soon :)

Have a bright Sunday!

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette Dupe

Hey there, salam to all my readers.

Remember yesterday's FOTD post? I wanted to find some other similar colours to it so I googled dupes for the colours in the palette. And these were what I found! Loads and loads of US beauty bloggers talking about a similar palette which could be easily bought at local discount stores there! For almost 1/6 of the price! There is even one with the same eyeshadow names!

 Check out these blog entries:

And look carefully at the swatches here. They are pretty much the same. GASP!

I know many high end cosmetics have their lines being imitated, but most of the imitations have much, much lower quality than the real ones. But this! Too Faced has got to do something about it. I checked my Too Faced palette and it stated that it is made in United States, and is DESIGNED EXCLUSIVELY for Too Faced. I don't really know the whole truth, on who's duping who and where the palette actually comes from BUT...talking about buyers remorse. This maybe is the ultimate! hehehe...

We can't get it here locally or even online I think, but if you have friends in the US maybe you can ask them to buy them for you :)

Really like to know what you guys think. Review of the Too Faced palette will be done after I played with it more :)

Have a bright Friday!

FOTD: Soft Smokey look with Too Faced Natural Eye Palette

Hey there lovelies, salam to all sisters.

Today I'm trying out a newly bought palette from Too Faced Cosmetics called the Natural Eye Palette. I reckon most of you have already seen this palette on other blogs or even Sephora.

This is the first time I'm using it, so I'll review this palette once I've used it several times. But first impression is some of the colours seems a bit powdery to me, but they are easy to blend though. The highlight colours are lovely. I love them.

It's a very neutral palette consisting of 9 different hues of browns and golds.

So here's the look I came up with. It's a very boring soft smokey look ngeee.... sorry for the lighting quality. As I finished making up, it started to rain and I lost some good sunlight...sigh...

I wanted to put on falsies but my son was nagging me to take him to a friends house (yup, in the rain), so I skipped it. Would look really  dramatic with them on.

On my face:
ELF ineral Infused Face Primer
LA Colors Mystic Foundation Stick in Honey Beige
Naturactor Cover Face Foundation in 151 as concealer
Derma Color Waterproof Fixing Powder
Elf Warm Bronzer in Warm
A light shimmery peach eyeshadow as highlighter

On my eyes:
ELF Eyebrow Kit in Medium
ELF Mineral Eye Primer
Too Faced NAtural Eye Palette in Heaven, Velvet Revolver, Erotica and Honey Pot.
A matte black eyeshadow
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero
Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

On my lips:
Stage Wonderkiss Lipcreme in Swoon
Stage Wondergloss Lipgloss in Aphrodite

Hope your guys like the look. It's very achievable using any natural pallete you own. I'll post some tutorials next time emkay.

Have a colourful day everyone.

New Favourite Youtube Guru: Lisa Eldridge

Hey there lovelies, salam to all readers.

Today's entry is about a new favourite guru of mine on Youtube. Discovered her videos about two weeks ago, and have been watching her vidoes everyday since :) If you love pro make up artists with British accents like Pixiwoo and Wayne Goss, then you are going to adore Lisa Eldridge.

She has been in the business for over 20 years. Her approach to make up is simple and elegant. Her tutorials are also a pleasure to watch with good video quality. She may seem to talk a lot, but with the experience she has, everything that comes out of her mouth is brilliant. Plus she has a very interesting hobby, she collects vintage make up.

Here are some of my favourite videos of her:

How I Groom My Brows

A very warm greetings to all you lovely sisters!

Couldn't believe I have been away for almost two months. The first trimester of my previous pregnancy was very much the same too. Anyways, I am feeling much better now, entering the second trimester. I could blog again. This is when preggers start eating! Yeay!

I see some new followers while I was gone..Thank you very much for your support. Always great to know somebody out there is reading all of these :)

Okay, I have been neglecting my face for almost three months. I did not cleanse, tone or moisturise (I couldn't stand the smell of most of my skin care products). I wore no make up except for sun block. It's kinda taking a toll on my skin. But, I could start my routine again now, since I could now tolerate the smell.

I have not groom my brows for the longest time. They are all over the place. So before I could start putting my make up again, I have to groom them back. So I thought I would share with all of you how I groom them. I have to mention that I am not a pro in this. I learned this myself via youtube :) I have done this quite a few times and am confident enough. This is just a rough guide that you can follow if you want to do this yourself. If your are not confident, you can always stop by any make up counter to get your brows professionally done.

Here are the tools you need:
Tweezers
Brow wand / comb
White eyeliner
Eyebrow razor
Small scissors (if you want to trim your brows)

Firstly you would want to brush / comb your brows following their natural shape.

Then draw out marks to guide you with the shape (look straight into the mirror while doing this):

a) Where your brow should start ( basically align with your inner corners)
b) Your brow arch (from tip of nose to the center of the iris)
c) Where your brow should end. (from tip of nose to end of eye)

After that, draw out your desired brow shape following those marks and connecting them (if you are not sure how high the arch should be just follow your natural arch)

Using tweezers and eyebrow razor, carefully pluck / shave any hairs outside the shape. Keep checking until you are satisfied with the shape. If you have low pain tolerance, you can ice your brows first to numb it a bit.

Clean the guidelines, and check again for any strays. Then repeat same process on the other brow.

Finished!

Traced with eyebrow pencil and a brown eyeshadow

With simple make up and one coat mascara

Before and after

Grooming eyebrows takes practice. I tend to stay away from a high arch because my brows naturally don't go that high anyways. And you can always draw a high arch if you want to.

So I do hope this is helpful to you. Your comments are very much welcomed. Stay tuned for more posts cause I'm back!

Have a bright one ladies (and lads).
